Introduction / History

The Aragonese live in Spain’s province of Argon. These have their own language, Aragonese, and their own culture.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Aragon is predominantly agricultural. Places with irrigation usually have an abundant harvest. Others work in the manufacturing sector, especially in the area of metalworking. Hydroelectricity is a key form of energy there, so that industry provides jobs as well. This is a wealthy region.

Partly because of the strong agricultural sector, Aragon people have a varied diet. They eat a lot of meat and wheat. Olive oil is the cooking oil, and they enjoy peaches grown locally. They are especially fond of crab, which, according to their legends, helps prevent sickness. They have sweets, especially pudding.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Typical of Spain, the Aragonese are almost entirely Roman Catholic, but they are becoming more secularized. Church is largely for weddings and funerals, not spiritual guidance.

What Are Their Needs?

The Aragonese need to look to Jesus Christ for true spiritual nourishment. He is the bread of life!

Prayer Points

Pray for Aragonese followers of Christ to disciple others in the ways of Jesus.

Pray for the Aragonese to give God praise for all he has given them and make gratitude an important part of their spiritual lives.

Pray for a Holy Spirit directed revival in Roman Catholic churches in Aragon.
