The name Banyum was given them by the Portuguese. It means “trader” since that was their line of work. They are also called Bainouk.
The Banyum Bainouk are very good at dying cloth and weaving.
They were converted by Muslim traders starting in the 1600s. Today they combine Islam with traditional African religious beliefs. Some are Christian.
The Banyum need to understand that Jesus is the only gatekeeper. He is the only way to the Father. Islam and traditional religious practices will not help them.
Pray for the Banyum people to have a hunger and thirst for truth and righteousness that will lead them to the only savior.
Pray for Banjum disciples who will make more disciples.
