The Baonuo have a unique ethnicity and speak their own distinct language. They are called Baiku Yao (White Pants Yao) by the Chinese because the men wear white trousers.
The Baonuo were once cannibals. When someone died, they cut up the corpse and ate it. After a small boy objected to seeing his mother eaten, they began to kill bulls instead.
The Baonuo are an isolated people, most of whom have never heard of the name of Jesus. A small number have believed in Christ in recent years. The Baonuo live in remote villages and are terrified of outsiders. Several foreigners who visited a Baonuo village in the mid-1980s were stoned to death.
Baonuo gospel recordings were first produced in 1999. Still, the vast majority of the Baonuo have never heard about Jesus or the sacrifice he made for them on the cross.
Pray for the Lord to prepare the Baonuo to receive the good news of Christ.
Pray for their hearts to be softened, their spiritual eyes and ears opened to the truth of the gospel message.
Pray for workers who will go to the Baonuo to preach and demonstrate God’s love for them.
Pray for a great awakening in which many Baonuo put their faith in Jesus and God’s church is established among them.
