In the 18th and 19th century the Bare had close association with the Werekena. Together they were put in a state of virtual slavery by Spanish and Portuguese authorities and merchants. They moved to river headwaters to escape the Europeans.
Today they live mainly in Brazil and Venezuela though some also live in Colombia.
The Bare people are farmers, hunters and fishermen. They extract piassava fiber which is coveted by local traders. This provides them with a source of cash.
Though there is some Roman Catholic influence among the Bare, they also preserve their ancient animistic religion.
The Bare people need to learn 21st century work skills so they can excel in a modern economy.
Pray for the Lord to bless the Bare people economically and spiritually as a testimony of his goodness and power.
Pray for Bare disciples to make more disciples who will make even more disciples.
Pray for a spiritual hunger for true righteousness that will lead them to Jesus Christ.
