The Ese Ejja are First Nations people who live in the southwestern Amazon basin of Peru and Bolivia. Their language is one of the Tacanan languages. It is being spoken by all generations, so it will probably not be entirely replaced by Spanish. One of their other names is Huarayo.
Traditionally they were hunter-gatherers, but now they are fishermen, ranchers or farmers.
Almost half are Roman Catholic, but they retain their traditional religious practices. Most remain animistic, worshipping as their ancestors did before the Spanish conquest and the Roman Catholic missionaries.
The Huarayo Ese Ejja need to put Jesus Christ first in their lives. He needs to be their everything, not just one of the gods to go to for their needs.
Pray for Huarayo people who love the Lord to disciple others in his ways.
Pray for Bible studies among the Huarayo people that will spread from family to family.
Pray for a Holy Spirit led desire for truth and salvation.
Pray for revival in Roman Catholic churches in Peru and Bolivia.
