Euronesian is a generic term for people of mixed European and Pacific Islander descent. In general, European men came to the various South Pacific islands, conquered, and either raped or married local women. Their offspring became what we call Euronesians.
Euronesians live in nine specific island nations, including Samoa. There are also subgroups of them, especially in Hawaii.
Euronesians in Samoa might work in agriculture, fishing, or the tourist industry.
Euronesians are Christianized, but there is also a strong element of secularization. Those who seek to adhere to their traditional cultures sometimes attempt to do this by embracing elements of their ancient religious practices.
Like people everywhere with a mixed heritage, the Euronesians need a clear identity. Some suffer from low self-esteem, while others resent either the Polynesians or the Europeans. They need a solid source of identity.
Pray for Euronesians in Samoa to find their identity and dignity in being part of the family of God.
Pray for some to help develop ways to improve the economy and infrastructure of their home islands.
Pray that soon Euronesian disciples will disciple those who lack the hope of being in Christ.
