The Even people, also known as the Lamut, are an indigenous ethnic group that primarily resides in the Russian Far East, particularly in the regions of Magadan, Yakutia, and Kamchatka. They are one of the indigenous peoples of Siberia and are recognized as a minority indigenous group under the Russian Federation's constitution.
Traditionally the Even people were hunters, fishermen and reindeer herders. They have always linked their culture to the natural environment, and they know much about the flora and fauna of their homeland.
Their language is part of the Northern Tungusic language family.
The Even people have had to deal with poverty, prejudice and a loss of their traditional cultural practices, especially during the Soviet period. Fortunately, there are now efforts to restore their culture (through music, dance and language) and allow them a greater degree of self-governance. They have greater access to the natural resources on their land then they had 90 years ago.
The Evan people are animists who worship spirits that they consider harmful. A small number are Christian, usually Russian Orthodox.
The Even people need to accept the warm embrace of the only savior so they can enjoy spiritually meaningful lives.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to work mightily in their communities, blessing them in every way.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to give the Even people a love for God's Word and a desire to spread its influence.
Pray for signs and wonders among them and for great breakthroughs with a rapid multiplication of disciples and house churches.
Pray for bold workers who are driven by the love of the Holy Spirit to go to them.
Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among them.
