The Cubeos of Colombia had their first encounters with Europeans in the mid-1800s when Catholic missionaries came to their inland territory. During WWI, rubber exploration came to their land, and the Cubeo were often shoved aside. In the 1950s, Sofia M ller and the Summer Institute of Linguistics came to evangelize.
Along with the usual hunting and fishing, the Cubeos are good at producing baskets, ceramics and wood carvings. They sell these to make a living.
Their homes are rectangular homes divided into two sections: one for living and the other for meeting. Their villages are scattered, but most have a school and a medical clinic.
Though there is also the belief in the spirit world, most Cubeos are either Roman Catholic or Evangelical.
The Cubeos need protection from those who want to exploit their homeland. They also need to become ambassadors of Christ to their neighbors since they are highly Christianized.
Pray for the Lord to provide safety and justice for the Cubeos as a testimony of his goodness and power.
Pray for Cubeos family leaders to put Jesus first and teach their children to do the same.
Pray for Cubeos disciples to disciple others.
Pray for Cubeos churches to exhibit the fruit of the Holy Spirit, drawing others to the Lord.
