Introduction / History

The El Hugeirats only live in Sudan. They once had their own language, but now they speak Sudanese Arabic.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most El Hugeirats engage in subsistence agriculture, growing millet and sorghum for their own consumption. They also raise sheep, goats, and cattle for meat and milk. Some of them migrate to cities to earn money. They also produce pottery and woven goods for both personal use and to sell.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Almost all El Hugeirats are Sunni Muslims.

What Are Their Needs?

Living in the Nuba Mountains, El Hugeirats need protection. There is inter-tribal fighting that easily flares up, plus the ongoing fighting between the government forces and insurgents. The end result is that the economy is in ruins, schools are sometimes closed, and medical issues aren t addressed.

Prayer Points

Pray for many from the El Hugeirats to have the spiritual hunger it takes to seek and find the Lord, no matter what the cost.
Pray for a soon-coming movement to Christ that will break the bondage of works righteousness.
Pray for audio gospel materials to find their way into El Hugeirat homes.
Pray for El Hugeirat family leaders to have dreams of the Risen Christ.
