Ikwere is a subgroup of the much larger Igbo people of Nigeria. There are four Ikwere subgroups. We have no reliable records of their origin. Some believe they migrated from the west, from what is now Benin. Others disagree.
We have little or no information about the lifestyle of the Ikwere people in Nigeria.
Traditionally the Ikwere people worshipped a goddess who “checkmated” human excesses and brought stability. Though there is a Christian influence among the Ikwere people, which includes churches, a New Testament and Christian resources, they are far from being fully committed to Jesus Christ.
The Ikwere people need the Old Testament in their language. The Old Testament teaches about the dangers of worshipping other gods.
Pray for the Lord to raise up many Ikwere people who are fully committed to the Lord, and willing to share his ways with their families and friends.
Pray for Ikwere disciples who will make other disciples.
Pray for Ikwere Christian believers to forsake other gods and any idols that keep them from the King of kings.
