Introduction / History

Japan has a large trade presence in the UAE. As a result, Dubai has the largest amount of Japanese in the entire Arab world. Many of them live in the Jebel Ali Free Zone – an area in Dubai intended to promote global trade.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Thousands of Japanese live and work in UAE and others are continuing to migrate to that country. Most are skilled industry workers or office workers. There is a Japanese Association and a Japanese school in Dubai, and a Japanese school in Abu Dhabi. There are also Japanese restaurants in Dubai.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Japanese combine Buddhism with their native Shintoism. However, they are primarily concerned with material wealth and economic advancement, so religious activities tend to be done with this end in mind.

What Are Their Needs?

The Japanese people in the UAE need to realize their need for the only savior. Most are currently occupied with seeking worldly success.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Japanese will turn from materialism to Jesus Christ.
Pray that God will give the Japanese a desire to seek Jesus Christ.
