The Manyika are an ethnic and linguistic subgroup of the greater Shona peoples of southern Africa. During colonial days the Portuguese controlled the Manyika homeland. They made their peace eventually, and the Manyika people were given priority by the Portuguese colonizers for education and good jobs. Eventually the Manyika were at the forefront of the efforts to win freedom from the Portuguese.
Today many of the Manyika people are involved with trade, but most are agricultural. Manyika farmers grow corn and raise livestock. They also fish, hunt and collect goods from wild areas. Others work in mines or distilleries.
They are mostly Roman Catholic and animistic. They believe the Roman Catholic tenets, but practice traditional African religion at home.
The Manyika need to put Jesus Christ first in their lives. Their communities need his guidance and mercy.
Pray for Manyika disciples to make more disciples who will make even more disciples.
Pray for the Lord to impress upon their hearts the centrality of Jesus Christ.
Pray for the Lord to bless their crops this year as a testimony of his goodness and absolute power.
