The Nadeb live in the North-West of the Amazon, approximately halfway between the cities of Tefe (on the Solimoes River) and Sao Gabriel da Caxoeira (on the Rio Negro).
The three major Nadeb villages probably add up to a few hundred individuals.
The people in Roçado village are basically monolingual. The young adults and teens show interest in learning to speak Portuguese. Some know a little, but they are aware that it is inadequate to converse in Portuguese, so they use it only when they have to.
