The Nzanyi rural homeland straddles the Nigeria-Cameroon border. Christian influence came into the area in the 1920s. Agriculture is the mainstay for the community but it must depend on annual rainfall to produce enough for their families to eat. Some of the Nzanyi have become businessmen and civil service workers.
In recent months, the Nzanyi people saw "JESUS" on the screen for the first time. They also received Luke - the first Scripture portion published in their own language. With this recent information the Christian community is eager for more Scripture. Many are using both the print and the audio version of that Gospel. Until now, Nzanyi Christians have relied on what they could learn about their faith from another language. Now they can hear it plainly in their own language. Church leaders need more Scripture to follow up with a hungry new generation of young believers who want to hear from God first-hand rather than through a second language.
