The Urarina tribe belongs to the family of Shimacos, a semi-nomadic group of the Amazon.
For over 500 years they have been living in the Urituyacu, Tigrillo, Patuyacu, Pucayacu, in the Chambira river basins located at north of the MaraƱon river, in Loreto-Peru.
The Uraninas are a simple people, who live off the the rain forest, and the river. They are known to trade and make bets with other villages to exchange resources.
The Uraninas hold to a basic view of theism, with a mixture of animistic and Catholic influences.
Please pray for the New Testament to become available to all Urarina people who desire one, and for long term workers who will be able to train local pastor-teachers for the equipping of the work of ministry. Please also pray for protection from false teachings in these regions, and that the Lord would raise up faithful men who would build the church on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. Please also pray for the health of the Uranina people, as many of them are exposed to such ills as malaria, malnutrition, and other sicknesses that the jungle can expose them to.
