Since the 800s, the Vespians have lived in a region that is now close to St. Petersburg. There are a small number of them in Ukraine and Estonia, but most are in Russia. They are defined by their ethnicity and their Finnish language.
Fewer people are speaking the Vespian language. Those who speak it usually live in isolated rural communities. Vespians who live among the Estonians try to blend in.
The Vespians were among the first to convert to Russian Orthodoxy in the 900s. However, they have never given up their ancient beliefs in local gods, mermaids, hobgoblins, sorcery and witchcraft.
The Vespians need to put Jesus Christ first in their lives so they can experience life to the full.
Pray for Vespians who follow the Lord to disciple others to become disciplers.
Pray for a spiritual hunger among Vespians that will lead them to the only Savior.
Pray for a Jesus-oriented revival in the Russian Orthodox Church that will bless both Russians and Vespians.
