Introduction / History

The Yagua people speak a language by the same name. It belongs to the Peba-Yaguan language group.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Yagua people are hunters and fishermen who are known for their use of blowguns for hunting purposes. They make their own canoes to navigate the rivers. This people group has their own traditional clothing which features wraparound skirts and beaded necklaces.

They have their own language and culture which they want to protect. Their music and dance forms entertain eco-tourists. They teach these visitors their knowledge of the local rainforest and how to make traditional handicrafts.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Yagua religious beliefs are tied in with the spirits of the land.

What Are Their Needs?

The Yagua people face threats from those who want to encroach on their homeland and use it for logging purposes.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to bless this community economically and spiritually.

Ask God to raise up Yagua who are more desirous to know the truth than to stay on the broad road.

Ask God to send loving, committed workers to the Yagua in the near future.

Pray the Yagua would no longer be hidden away from the influence of Christ.

Pray for many of them to make disciples who will make even more disciples.
