Introduction / History

The Ghadasi are a subgroup of the Koli tribe. Traditionally they were hunters and farmers who had frequent conflicts with the dominant Marathas.

They live in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka, all states in western India.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Like most tribal peoples, the Ghadasi are struggling to adapt to India's modern economy. They need better education so they can keep up.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They are Hindus, but their main tribal deity is Bapujiboa. Hinduism is a catch-all for the original religions of South Asia, so ethnic groups can easily have their own deities and still be Hindu.

What Are Their Needs?

The Ghadasi people need to put their hope and faith in Jesus Christ, the only one who can provide them with abundant blessings.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Lord to bless the Ghadasi people so abundantly that they will see he is the only one worthy of praise and worship.

Pray for loving workers to take the gospel to the Ghadasi community.

Pray the Lord will prepare the hearts of the Ghadasi to understand and to believe the gospel.

Pray for the Lord to bless the Ghadasi people with adequate education and medical facilities.
