The Kapewar migrated from Andhra Pradesh and now live in Maharashtra. They speak Telugu, Marathi and Hindi and read and write in Devanagari.
The Kapewar work in agriculture and forest work. Some work for the government. They are reasonably well educated. They are not vegetarians. The Kapewar are mainly monogamous. They allow for remarriage. Unlike most Hindus they either cremate or bury their dead. On the death of the father only the sons inherit the family property.
The Kapewar people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins.
The Kapewar people need the abundant blessings of Jesus Christ who came to give life to the full.
Pray that Indian believers to pray for and go to the Kapewar people. Pray for spiritual discernment and a hunger for true righteousness. Pray a movement to Christ among them this decade.
