Introduction / History

The Merat people are one of the many Rajput peoples of South Asia. The Rajputs have a long history of gaining power through their military prowess.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Women within the Merat Rajput community are expected to give birth to a son. Daughters result in future dowry costs, and sons are family assets. According to their customs, Merat girls must marry men from a higher caste. Marrying into a higher caste means paying a larger, often unaffordable, dowry to the groom's family.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Although the Merats are Muslims, their culture and religion is a hybrid of Hindu and Muslim traditions.

What Are Their Needs?

The Merat people need the chance to hear and respond to the voice of the only savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer Points

Pray that dehumanizing cultural beliefs and practices would be overturned by a saving knowledge of Christ.
Pray for God's Kingdom to come to the Merat community in such a way that righteousness, justice, and love would define them, and Christ would be glorified.
Pray for loving ambassadors of Christ to go to the Merat people in Pakistan.
