Introduction / History

The Padiar people live mainly in the district of Kollam. Their homes are in the southern states of Kerala and Karnataka, but they speak Goan Konkani, the language of nearby Goa.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Some Padiar people collect sap from coconut palm trees to make an alcoholic beverage. Today most are either farmers or fishermen.

They have contributed to India’s culture through their music and dance forms.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Though they are entirely Hindu, the Padiar have their own unique spiritual practices.

The Padiar people need to put their trust and identity in the hands of the loving God of Creation who sent his son to make it possible for them to enter the Kingdom of God.

What Are Their Needs?

Pray for a "Book of Acts" type of movement to Christ among the Padiar.

Pray God will have mercy on the Padiar, doing whatever it takes to place them in a position to receive him.

Ask God to open the hearts of the Padiar to the gospel.

Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among them.
