The Ravulo traditionally are priests. The Ravulo people in Odisha speak, read and write in Oriya. In Andhra Pradesh, as well as Oriya, they can speak, read and write in Telugu
They work as priests and in cultivation. The Ravulo people have a council to look after their interests and they value education. They prefer marriages between cousins and they allow for divorce. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming the new head of the family.
The Ravulo people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins.
The Ravulo community needs the opportunity to allow Jesus Christ to give them life to the full.
Pray that the council leaders give their lives to Jesus Christ and lead their people into a disciple making movement. Pray for a spiritual hunger that will lead them to the only Savior. Pray for intercessors and workers.
