Introduction / History

The Sonr, not to be confused with the goldsmithing Sonar caste, are a scheduled tribe that lives in Madhya Pradesh. They speak Bundelkhandi. The Sonr have several clans.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Sonr work in cultivation and laboring. They have a community council to look after their needs. Their education level is low so the gospel will need to be given in oral forms. They marry within their own community. Marriages are arranged by family elders. On the death of the father sons inherit the property.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Hinduism is their religion.

What Are Their Needs?

The Sonr people need the abundant life that only Jesus offers.

Prayer Points

Pray that the community leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead their people into a disciple making movement. Pray that gospel recordings and oral scriptures will become easily available to them. Pray for a craving for spiritual truth that will lead them to the only Savior.
