Introduction / History

The Acheron tribe is defined by a language of the same name. They are a small tribe in southern Sudan that will probably lose their language in the decades to come.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Their homes are built from natural materials. They lack electricity and indoor plumbing.

Marriages are arranged by family elders and there is usually a bride price involved. This can be money or livestock. There are pre-wedding rituals involving ceremonies, gift exchanges, and beauty treatment for the bride to prepare her for her big day.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Most are Christian, though there are animistic practices blended in with biblical faith. Still, there is an Evangelical majority that is well prepared to be Christ s ambassadors to their neighbors.

What Are Their Needs?

Acheron Christians need the willingness to go to others with the gospel. Their churches need to send them with all the prayer and monetary resources they need.

Prayer Points

Pray for Acheron churches to become an important sending base.
Pray they will prioritize the less reached peoples in Sudan.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to purify and empower Acheron churches and families.
Pray for God to protect and prepare those he sends.
