Introduction / History

Han Chinese traders began to come to Thailand in the 1200s. Many are Han Chinese. Most of them have their origins in Guangdong Province. In the last couple of decades, thousands of construction workers, engineers, doctors, cooks and petroleum engineers have migrated to Thailand. Thailand now has the largest Chinese people group away from China.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Many Chinese have married Thai people and identify as Thai. Most only speak Thai. The Thai Chinese have an important representation in politics and business in Thailand. Thai Chinese businesses are the biggest investors in China from abroad. Many now live in the coastal regions including the capital Bangkok.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Most are Buddhists.

What Are Their Needs?

The Chinese in Thailand need the spiritual discernment it takes to find their way to the cross. Hopefully Han Chinese Christian believers will be Christ bearers to them.

Prayer Points

Pray that Chinese Christians would lead the Thai Chinese to Jesus Christ.
Pray for the Chinese in Thailand to have the spiritual hunger it takes to seek and find the Lord.
Pray that the Buddhists and businesspeople will discover Jesus Christ and accept his lordship.
