Introduction / History

The Sindhu Jats are basically a warrior tribes. 600 to 700 ago, they lived on both sides of the Indus River. After that most of them migrated to the Punjab of the Sub-continent. During the coming centuries most of them converted to Islam. Others are Sikh or followers of other religions.
In Pakistan, they live in the all the five provinces: Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa & Gilgit-Baltistan. They also live in Jammu and Kashmir.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They are hardworking people who value honor and respect family. There are no restrictions to marriages with other castes. For the most part they like to live in joint families.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The majority are Muslim.

What Are Their Needs?

They are physically and morally very strong and always believe in working hard. Their needs are adequate income, education and a place to live.
