Introduction / History

The departments of Amazonas and Putumayo in the Amazon rainforest of Colombia is the homeland of the Nonuya people. Their language is also called Nonuya, which belongs to the Eastern Tukanoan language branch.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Though they were once subsistence hunters, gatherers and farmers who lived close to the land, the Nonuya are often displaced from their homeland.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Nonuya people have their own traditional religion based on the spirit world.

What Are Their Needs?

The Nonuya face a future without their own land and the natural resources that go with it. They can easily have armed conflicts with those who have better weapons.

Prayer Points

Pray for a "Book of Acts" type of movement to Christ among the Nonuya.

Pray God will have mercy on the Nonuya, doing whatever it takes to place them in a position to receive him.

Ask God to open the hearts of the Nonuya to the gospel.

Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ among them.
