This small tribe is defined by speaking the Yamphu language.
Most Yamphu people live in the hills of Nepal and are subsistence farmers. They grow everything they need to eat and only buy oil, salt, and sugar as needed. Yamphu homes are made of wooden beams cut from trees in the forest. The beams are covered with mud and dung. Their rooftops are made of grass and tin. Yamphu homes are decorated with mud painted designs of white, red and black designs around the base of their homes.
Yamphu people in Nepal mostly practice Buddhism. They try to gain knowledge to escape endless cycles of reincarnation based on their present life of sin balanced with good works. Buddhism allows people to mix Buddhist teachings with traditional religion. To most Buddhists, these practices have far less meaning than their traditional beliefs, which are usually animistic. They believe that evil spirits must be appeased through prayers, sacrifices and rituals.
Audio Bible resources only exist in the Yamphu language, however, Yamphu people in Nepal remain unreached with the gospel. Who will go to them? Basic medical, educational and practical needs provide opportunities for believers to go to this people.
Pray for opportunities for Global Recordings Network to provide the Yamphu people with audio Bible resources.
Pray that Yamphu people will receive the gospel and discover the Lord who is their creator God and is able to answer their many prayers.
Pray for a movement to Christ among the Yamphu people that will bless their community for eternity.
