Introduction / History

The Sada or Saad people of Goa and Karnataka, India are a subgroup of the larger Kunbi community. The Sada have their own subgroups based on their occupation. These include Halpati, Bhatkar, and Kavthankar and others. They speak either Konkani or Kannada.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They are mainly farmers, but some earn their living by fishing, toddy tapping or working in the retail industry. They are expert cultivators of cashews, coconuts and other cash crops.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Some would call the Sada people Hindus who worship the various major Hindu gods and goddesses. Others would describe their religious practices and being unique to them as a people.

What Are Their Needs?

The Sada people need to be given the chance to hear the life-changing gospel so they can enjoy life to the full.

Prayer Points

Pray for loving gospel workers to catch a vision for reaching the Sada people for Jesus and that in God's sovereign timing the hearts of these people would be open and ready to follow him.

Pray for Jesus movements to bless extended families so the gospel will spread rapidly.

Pray for the spiritual lives of the Sada people to become fruitful so others will be drawn to Jesus Christ.
