Introduction / History

The Sudha people speak, read and write in Oriya. They have a subgroup called the Butka which lives in Odisha.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Sudha Butka work mostly as cultivators. They are landowners.
The Sudha prefer to marry their cousins. The bereaved and divorced are allowed to marry again. The dead are either buried or cremated. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son having the most and becoming the new family head.
Floor painting and basketry are their favored crafts. They have councils to look after their needs. They believe in education and use both traditional and modern medicines.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Hinduism is their religion, and they have their own festivals.

What Are Their Needs?

The Sudha Butka people need the transforming power of Jesus Christ so they can experience his spiritual, economic and social blessings.

Prayer Points

Pray that Indian believers to befriend them and lead them into a movement to Christ.
Pray that Sudha Butka council leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead their community into a disciple making movement.
