Shenva (Hindu traditions) in India
SHEN-vah

The Shenva, also known as Rawat, are a Scheduled Caste in the state of Gujarat, which entitles them to certain government benefits. The Shenva community consists of several exogamous clans. They are mainly agricultural laborers and have their own land and homes. They worship Shree Chamunda Mataji, a clan deity, on festivals and during life-cycle ceremonies. According to their tradition, they believe they are descendants of Rajputs who fled into the forests.

Ministry Obstacles
Spiritual things are spiritually discerned or understood. Pray the Lord will give these people understanding as the gospel comes to them.

Scripture Focus
"I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word."  Psalm 138:2

Scripture Prayer
Pray that many from this people group will delight in His promises, and seek His unfailing love.

Prayer Focus
Pray for better employment opportunities for these people. They need to improve their vocational skills so they will be qualified for these better positions. Pray for workers to go to the Hindu Shenva, workers who are able to communicate well the good news about Jesus Christ. Pray for their encouragement, protection and provision. A small number of the Shenva have identified themselves as Christians to the Indian census. This is very encouraging. Pray these Christians would be properly instructed in the ways of Christ and would live holy lives in the power of the Lord's Spirit. Pray they would represent Christ well to their families and friends.
