This very small people group lives on one of the eastern peninsulas of Sulawesi, one of the Indonesian islands. Their primary language of Andio is endangered; most of the people have adopted other languages.
The Masama Andio, as a very small people group, are losing their cultural uniqueness as they adopt the languages and customs of the peoples around them. This must influence their sense of self-worth.
Like most peoples in Indonesia, the Masama Andio people are Sunni Muslims who include aspects of pre-Islamic religion with their belief system. Allah is seen as distant and uninvolved in daily life; on a day-to-day basis, they rely on the spirit world.
There are no Christian resources in the Andio language. Given the cultural and linguistic changes affecting the Andio, it isn't clear whether translation of the Bible into Andio or creation of resources in nearby languages would be more fruitful for the group.
Pray for the Lord to raise up a strong Disciple Making Movement to saturate the hearts and minds of the Masama Andio people of Indonesia.
Pray for God's blessing, strengthening and healing of Masama Andio families and communities through the abundant life Jesus offers to all who call on his name.
Pray for God's blessing on the leaders of the Masama Andio people, along with their families, and for their communities to welcome and enjoy God's blessing.
Pray for the Lord to multiply the reception and influence of his word among the Masama Andio people, leading them to love him with their whole being.
