The Nuaulu are a Melanisian people that live in the jungles of the island of Seram. They are known as head hunters, with the last case being in relatively recent times.
They are located in Seram, Indonesia.
They live a hunter-gatherer existence in the jungles of their island home. The women forage locally, but the men undertake hunting trips that may last a week.
The Nuaulu practice ancestor worship, and make sacrifices for hunting success. They also believe their ancestors manifest as certain animals, and will therefore not harm individuals of that species.
