Nyika people are also called Mijikenda or Nika. Nyika is a cluster of people groups.
They are mainly farmers who also raise livestock and fish. The Nyika peoples are all involved with trade.
A Nyika man can have more than one wife and there is a large bride price involved with the marriage. They trace descent through both female and male lines. Clans are very important to the Nyika peoples. A man has certain responsibility based on his clan and lineage. A man’s status is determined by his age and rank in a secret society.
Nyika peoples can be Muslim or Christian, but they almost always integrate ancient African religion with these two major religions. They are especially involved with worshipping their ancestral spirits.
The Nyika people need to put all their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Pray for the Lord to show himself powerful and loving by providing the Nyika peoples with an abundant harvest this year.
Pray for Nyika disciplers to disciple others.
Pray for a spiritual revival based on Jesus Christ and him crucified.
