The Bodh or Gahri live in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Most of these are in the Kullu and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh. They are related to the Tibetans; their Gahri language is Tibetan based. Most also speak Hindi and other larger languages.
Tibetan Buddhism affects the daily lives of the Bodh people.
They are skilled farmers and herders. They make beautiful handicrafts. In recent decades the Bodh have migrated to urban areas where they hoped to find better jobs and higher wages.
The Bodh people are Tibetan Buddhists. In this form of Buddhism, the shamanistic Bon religion is blended with Buddhist tenets. They celebrate the Tibetan New Year and join their Hindu neighbors in celebrating Hindu festivals.
The Bodh people need a John 10:10 blessing: The abundant life Jesus offers those who are willing to submit to his lordship.
Pray for the Bodh culture to be renewed and enhanced by a work of the Holy Spirit and shaped into a God-centered and God-honoring mold.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among their family and community leaders to seek his face and enjoy his blessings.
Pray for the Lord to thrust out workers who will be compelled to nurture a disciple making movement among the Bodh people.
Pray that soon the Bodh people will have faith that will lead them to live honorable lives that will draw others to the savior.
Pray for spiritual discernment and a hunger for true spirituality.
