Badini is a dialect of Kurmanji, the largest Kurdish language. Badini can be understood by Kurmanji speakers, even though it includes more Arabic words than other Kurmanji dialects.
People who speak this language usually live in northern Iraq.
Like other Kurds, the Badini want to be able to make independent decisions from Iraq’s Baghdad government. Clan divisions keep them from gaining more political power on a permanent basis.
They are farmers, raising cattle and goats, and a people who enjoy elaborate costumes, and bright colors.
Almost all Kurds are Sunni; class prejudice is common in this people group. Many of the most rebellious in Kurdish society have associated with secret and unorthodox Muslim sects.
Many Kurds have endured much suffering in recent years of war and rebellion, scarcity of water, and resultant farming problems. Medical teams and civil engineers, and educators are needed to minister to these needy people.
There are a few known followers of Christ among the Kurds in Iraq. Please pray they will grow in the admonition and nurture of the Lord.
Pray for the Lord to bless the Badini families with his presence and mercy.
Pray for a movement of Bible studies that will beget more Bible studies with the intension of producing obedient Badini disciples.
