Introduction

The Tai Kao or “White” Tai receive their name from the color of their women's clothing. They live in northern Laos and Vietnam, and most live in villages near a river or stream. They make their living through agriculture, and wet rice is their main crop and source of food. Men and women share the duties of farming, raising children and cleaning house. The Tai Kao are known for being polite, respectful of others and hospitable. The Tai Kao mix Buddhism with folk religion. If a son becomes a Buddhist monk, it is an honor for his family. Chinese followers of Christ can send workers to the White Tai.

Ministry Obstacles

The Laotian government does not allow foreign missionaries in the areas where the Tai Kao live. There may be no Christian believers among the Tai Kao of Laos.

Prayer Focus

Pray for Christian believers among the Vietnamese Tai Kao to share the good news with their Tai Kao neighbors in Laos.
Ask God to grant wisdom and favor to anyone taking Christ to this tribe.
Ask the Holy Spirit to soften the hearts of the Tai Kao towards Christ and his work on the cross, so they will be receptive to the gospel.
