The Javanese New Caledonians are an ethnic group that speaks their own dialect, New Caledonian Javanese. They first arrive in 1896 to work on plantations. At that time, the Dutch held Indonesia and New Caledonia as colonies.
Most returned to Indonesia after WWII, though some remained.
Like the Javanese in Indonesia, they are mainly Sunni Muslim with a strong bent towards animism. There is a Christian minority among them.
The New Caledonian Javanese need to find their way to the cross and the empty grave. They will not have the abundant life offered by Jesus until they turn to him for answers.
Pray for the Lord to abundantly bless the New Caledonian Javanese people, and that they will respond with gratitude and worship.
Pray for New Caledonian Javanese disciples to disciple others in the ways of Christ, leading to a spiritual blessing for their community.
