The Surubu people are also called the Kuvori people. A trace of them was discovered in the Congo region toward the Lake Victoria of East Africa. The small group live amongst the Maasai Mara tribal group. They probably migrated South-West of the Congo and headed to their present destination in Tanzania and Kenya popularly called the Maasai Mara region. The search for good pasture for their livestock is one other factor for their migration and resettlement in this region but, ethic and communal conflicts were majorly considered as the reasons why they moved. Most of them are farmers.
They are located in Kaduna State, Kauru Local Government Area, Kumana Chiefdom.
Presently the great majority profess to be Christian but many still worship idols. The remainder practice Islam and other faiths.
They need roads and communication systems as they isolated behind the Surubu hills.
