Chadar people live mainly in Madhya Pradesh, India's most central state. Their name means "weaver." They consider themselves to be descendants of the prestigious Rajputs. Traditionally, many of them were employed as village watchmen, while others were weavers.
Educated Chadars have their own caste association known as the Chadar Kshatriya Samaj, which is intended to look after their interests and maintain law and order.
This group is almost completely Hindu, and only about one in 500 is Christian of any kind. Most speak Hindi, so there are Christ-centered materials in a language they can understand.
With a tiny portion of them embracing the Lord of lords, the Chadar people need a gospel witness. That will be difficult given their location in northern India. They speak Hindi, which has an abundance of gospel materials, but few in their part of India will accept the gift of salvation.
Pray that biblical materials will soon become widely distributed in Chadar communities.
Pray that they will open their hearts to the King of Kings.
Pray for the Lord to thrust out loving workers.
Scripture Prayers for the Chadar in India.
