The Xucuru people live in the Uroruba montain range in Pesqueira. For a long time, they were expelled from their land by the farmers. In 1998 the chieftain called Chicão got his land back. But they still had to fight to get their territory back. In 1999 Chicão was killed. Marcos Luydson, his son, assumed his position. He is the Chieftain until today.
