The Kunbis are a cluster of non-elite farmers. They have several subgroups including the Jadav community. They believe that they have a Rajput background, but other communities might not agree. The Jadav Kunbi live in Maharashtra and speak Marathi and read and write in Devanagari.
Agriculture is their main work. They have an association that looks after their social and financial matters. The men are not vegetarians while the women are vegetarians. Jowar is their favorite cereal. The Jadav Kunbi are endogamous. This means they prefer to marry within their community. Marriages are arranged by the parents. On the death of the father sons and the bereaved wife inherit the property.
Hinduism is their religion. They have their own festivals. Spiritual beliefs of Hindus are very diverse from those who worship only one god to those who worship hundreds of them to those who are philosophical and do not worship any.
The Jadav Kunbi need to put their hope and trust in Jesus Christ, the only one who can provide life to the full.
Pray for spiritual discernment and openness to the claims of Christ. Pray that the Jadav Kunbi association leaders give their lives to Jesus Christ and open the door for a movement to Christ. Pray for the Lord to raise up faithful intercessors and workers to bless this people group.
