The Baori are described as a nomadic group who were once associated with criminal activities. This community has three occupational divisions: the Kapadia, who sell old and used garments; the Magnia, who subsist by begging; and the Chatnia, who beg and eat discarded food. All of them have low status.
The Baori do not trust outsiders. Because of their lifestyle, it may be difficult for Christian workers to have contact with these people. Christians need to feel genuine compassion and concern for these people and not be condescending. There may be opportunities to minister to their physical and material needs in order to establish trust.
Pray that Baori Christian believers would be properly taught the truths of Scripture. Pray they would learn and practice the ways of Christ. Pray for constructive and productive ways for the Baori people to provide for their families. Pray for the Lord to take the Baori people from despair to a place where they are productive members of Indian society, for the glory of his name. Pray they would make schooling for their children a priority.
