The Enawene-Nawe are a First Nations people that lives along Brazil’s Juruena River.
The Enawene-Nawe depend on their manioc crops and fishing. Their fishing efforts involve elaborate wooden traps. There are outside groups that threaten their fishing needs. There is a plan to build 80 dams upstream from the Enawene-Nawe homeland. Some of these dams will pollute the water and reduce the number of fish. Since they don’t eat red meat, they need the fish.
Though there is a Christian influence among the Enawene-Nawe, most adhere to their traditional religion.
The Enawene-Nawe need protection from outsiders. If they cannot catch fish, they cannot survive.
Pray for the Lord to come to the aid of the Enawene-Nawe people with his guidance and protection.
Pray for Enawene-Nawe disciples to make more disciples.
Pray for a spiritual hunger among the Enawene-Nawe people that will lead them to follow Jesus Christ with all their hearts.
